Student Workshops, Residencies & Performances

Faye Stanley specializes in the use of cultural music, stories and games to teach curriculum.  She is a musician and storyteller, with a unique approach to education.  She works with global arts as a starting point for explorations that engage the imagination and critical thinking to develop understandings that meet and exceed learning objectives.  In this process, the classroom reflects a global perspective, and students and teachers alike immerse themselves in the joy of learning.

Faye offers performances, workshops and residencies based on this work. Please note that the term “workshop” refers to a one-session experience, whereas a residency is of multiple sessions.  Titles are similar, however, and material is pulled from residency sessions to accommodate workshop sessions of different lengths.

This is a student card sent to Faye.  This refers to one of the stories Faye tells, an African Bushman creation myth explaining how the sun came to be.  According to the myth, a boy was born with great balls of light under his armpits.  This student also has written in the words that we sing in the course of the story, “Sunman, Sunman, bring us your light. Sunman, Sunman, chase away the night.”
