PRESENTS

Forgotten Memories, a musical that shows a family’s struggle to cope with the progression of Alzheimer’s disease in the Mother. Forgotten Memories follows the effects from early, moderate symptoms to commitment at a care facility. The songs express the emotional journey of the patient, family members, community and caregivers, as they all struggle to understand what they are feeling, while coping with the realities of the situation.

The excerpt presented in April, 2006 included seven songs

“Paranoid” - Elsie is beginning to experience early symptoms of Alzheimer’s.
“Do You Remember?” - Duet between Elsie and her husband Charlie, recalling their early times together
“He is Only Seven” - Elsie is confusing her grandson with her own son.
“Boiling Over” - Elsie, Charlie, their son John and his wife Sara express their growing frustration and rage with their situations
“Slipping Away” - Charlie sings about his realization that he is gradually losing the love of his life.
“Meadowbrook Rag” - Residents of the Meadowbrook care facility sing about their life together.
“Do You Remember reprise & Tapestry” - Family and caregivers express how they carry Elsie within their ongoing lives.

A recording of these songs is now available, performed by the premier presentation cast.
